At Kendos, we provide high-quality language solutions to support individuals, nonprofits, and businesses in accessing vital services. Our interpreters play a crucial role in bridging language barriers in healthcare, educational and legal settings.

Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled translators and/or interpreters to provide professional translation/interpretation services in medical, educational, and/or legal settings. The ideal candidate will facilitate clear and accurate communication between clients with limited English proficiency and service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and effectively interpret verbal communications in medical or legal contexts.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments.

  • Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing relevant terminology and context.

  • Assist clients in understanding information while remaining impartial.

  • Report any challenges or issues encountered during assignments.

Qualifications:
Medical Interpreters:

  • Completion of a 40-hour medical interpreter training, such as Bridging the Gap, with a passing certificate (required).

  • NBCMI (National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters) and/or CCHI (Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters) certification (preferred but not required).

Legal Interpreters:

  • Relevant interpreting training.

  • State and/or federal court licensing (preferred but not required).

Additional Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and target language(s).

  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances in both languages.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Professional demeanor and ability to remain neutral and impartial.

  • Access to reliable transportation if on-site interpretation is required.

  • Familiarity with VRI and OPI platforms is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate interpreters' availability.

  • Opportunities to work in diverse settings including hospitals, clinics, courts, and virtual platforms.
